I agree, they do take a long time to bake! There may be a quicker method with a dehydrator, but I haven’t looked into it as I only make these once or twice a year during apple season.

Making thes apple chips sounds great but the time it takes to bake them is just tooo long-I think. All my gas would be used up by the Time th’er done.

That’s interesting! I’ve used red delicious before and never had that problem. Sounds like you may have had extra juicy apples! For next time, it may be worth trying to bake them separately when using different kinds of apples. I’ve definitely had some apples take extra time, so it may be worth leaving the red delicious in the oven longer than you would the green ones!

Only the green apple crisped up nicely. The red delicious apples would not lose their moisture. Oh well, at least I had some of these absolutely delicious treats to eat! Can’t wait to make more :)

Yes they do! The thinner you cut them, the wavier they will be.

It would be worth a shot! I can’t say for certain how they will turn out since I haven’t tried it, but I’d guess that Splenda would work just fine. If you do end up trying it, please report back on how it worked!
